Yesterday comes three days after tomorrow as we go live with our review of 21, that one blackjack movie starring "Hey" Jude, Verbal Kint, Lois Lane and Morpheus. Arguments rage fierce on this one, so be prepared to cover your ears if you don't want to hear mommy and daddy fight. We still love each other very much.

Man, I really liked that book, and at the time of reading it thought it would be a great movie. I hate it when people ruin a great premise for everyone else.
Kevin (if that's what that one guy's name was) - one of the best threads running through the book was the idea that the racism in casinos is what allowed them to do well. People saw through a racist lens, so a young Asian guy betting like he had no worries about money made them less nervous than a white guy. In the book they return to that theme several times, and lightly touch on the MIT versions of the same racist assumptions. To completely remove that from the film was a ridiculous choice. There's a really good article about the race of various characters in martial arts films here. It's also relevant for the Forbidden Kingdom.
